Emily Porven is an Illustration senior at Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design who focuses on character creation. She loves experimenting with shape language that illustrates a character's personality and history. Her style is often described as semi-realistic with a complementary color palette and a serious tone. Her work focuses on the strengths and struggles of feminine characters, with the goal to showcase women as more than the stereotypical western depiction. She is influenced by Studio Ghibli films in which the female protagonists are empowered to be independent, leading to character growth throughout the films. She also has a passion for romantic audiobooks and dancing!
